What’s good in the ‘hood? Spring 2024 Jacksonville DnB happenings

We’re off to a solid start this year with events and other stuff going on. Here’s a quick recap of what you may have missed (or maybe you were there and want to relive it.)

January’s events

January is usually a recovery month for many people; holidays, family overload, empty bank accounts, etc. It’s a good thing that our monthly takeover at Myth is free with our guest list! The January edition featured our friends IonZ, Brian Bellas, and Guffi along with host Reflections. Cold winter air accompanied by dark rolling beats and bass.

A week later we got to participate in an artist showcase presented by Elektronic Group and Brass Knuckle Booking. Thursdays are the premiere EDM weekly in Jacksonville, usually featuring touring House and Dubstep/Trap artists. For this occasion, they took a poll on social media asking which deejays people want to see at Myth. Out of all the participants, four of the ten selected were from team JaxDnB! Even better, some of the other deejays who don’t normally play DNB decided to give it a go.

We ended up with drum n bass for more than 50% of the night! Even more better, this was a judged event, with the main prize being a direct support spot for a major headliner at an upcoming show. Congrats to our homie Vera Vera who played, you guessed it, a Drum & Bass set! Our resident Reflections came in second place and took home a nice bar tab.

February’s events

February kept things rolling right along. The monthly Myth takeover moved to First Fridays, and featured local selectors MekanizedSource, iLLSiC, and IDK. It was another chilly evening but not too cold as people came out to dance and jive. Later in the month we went back to one of our favorite spots, Rain Dogs, for a special event with SST from Orlando and part of the Torque DnB crew.

SST just released a full album with loads of great music, and he was ready to drop that fire on us. The turnout was solid, the vibes were high, and we were pleased to have two great additions. Our friend and frequent participant Mental_Motions Art set up her displays of unique art and jewelry on showcase and for sale. And for the first time at a JaxDnB event, we had Digital Sessions from Ft. Lauderdale come up to produce a live stream and record the event. We had a solid turnout, on par with some of our other events from last year. All around, it was a solid month of great music and friends.

What’s coming up this spring

Coming up fast, we have two nearly back-to-back events in March. The first is our monthly takeover on Friday 3/1, and we have an extra special guest headliner: Will Miles! He is joined by Atlanta’s Lieutenant Reid as the two make their way through a mini tour of the southeast U.S. Will is a cool dude and he plays a wide selection of heavy and deep tunes.

This event is still free if you register for our gest list before Friday 3/1 at 6pm.

Second, on Wednesday 3/6 we’ve teamed up with Underground Emerge and Fractalliance to bring the Out Of Ends U.S. tour featuring Monroller and Martial Taktics w/ MC Rivibes. On support we have Mystyk Forest from the Corn Bois crew, plus Reflections and CAB 3. This tour is rolling through the southeast U.S. on its first leg. It will be hitting other cities including St. Augustine, Gainesville, Tampa, and Atlanta before rolling out to Denver.

Grab tickets now for the Jacksonville Beach stop on 06 March.

As we move into April, we’ve got another something special lined up. We can’t officially say just yet, but we are certain this will be another magical night at Rain Dogs. Make sure you subscribe to our mailing list for updates. In the meantime, we’ll see you in the dance!
